There's a First Time For Everything

This past month has brought a lot of firsts to our little family. Some small, some big... all important in their own right. Forgive the terrible pictures. Despite owning a camera, mommy and daddy are slaves to the iphone and insist on using for all photo ops.

First diaper change (and daddy's first ever!)

First car ride (home from the hospital)

First time in the swing (aka mommy's lifesaver)

First trip to Target (first of many obvi)

First bath at home (pre-belly button cord)

First bath at home (in the real tub, thank the lord the cord finally fell off)

First walk outside in the stroller (in the amazing BOB!)

Can't wait to see what next month brings!

One Month

Dear Emma,

It is hard to believe that today you are one month old. It seems like just yesterday that I was a cranky pregnant lady wishing you would come out and meet us already. You arrived in a flurry of chaos (still meaning to write out your birth story) and it seems like the last month has been more of the same, but of course in a good way.

My days at home with you are oh so sweet. Sure there are days when you cry and I can't figure out what you want which makes momma crazy. I've found that there are just times that I have to indulge you on your only request of napping on my chest for hours on end in order to calm you down, but it's OK because I love those times too. I love hearing the door open at night though, to see your daddy come into the house and make a bee-line to wherever you are. I love watching him love you up and gladly hand you over for some much needed daddy-daughter time.

Although the last four weeks have been spent doing alot of sleeping, eating and pooping... you are also up to some other amazing things. I'm not quite sure how, but you've been lifting your head up on your own since about week 2. The people that have had babies before marvel at this and say how it's so early, but since you're all we know, I just like to think of it as you being a wonder woman already. You've found your hands already as well and when they're not in your mouth, they are pushing the bottle away when we're trying to feed you. Your little chubby legs are equally as strong, pushing away on me when we play.

Every day has been an adventure with you my love. From the first few days when Daddy and I spent hours in our hospital room just staring at you, to bringing you home with the simple goal of "just trying to keep the baby alive", we have come a long way. I still catch myself staring at you when you sleep or look around and explore and can't wait to see what else there is to come.

Party Time

Saturday September 18th marked Jillian's 12th birthday and Emma's first party experience. She must have really enjoyed herself with all of the attention (even though she slept for half the time) because she slept for hours on Sunday.

Although she didn't get to partake in the dinner or birthday cake, Emma did get festive with a birthday hat although she made me promise that we wouldn't do this to her ever again :)

Happy Birthday Jillian - we love you!

Who does she look like? It's pretty much the first question asked by everyone since moments after birth.

I can answer that question with 100% certainty. 100% certainty that (for the moment at least), I was just the carrier because the kid

Just take a look at those eyes! Not that I'm complaining because they're both pretty stinking cute :)

First Family Photo

Although Emma is already over 3 weeks old (ps. holy crap, how is she already 3 weeks?!?!) and has changed so much, I couldn't resist posting our first official family photo.

Big thanks to the wonderfully talented Brooke at Brooke Allison Photography for capturing this special moment on Emma's first full day of life. We love you and can't wait for you to take more and more pics of the little lady!

Somebunny loves you!

Emma, even though you have been keeping mommy and daddy up at night (after sneakily tricking us into thinking you could sleep for 4+ hours at night for the first week you were home) lately, we still love you.

Please forgive me for the terrible play on words and the obsessive picture taking of almost every outfit. Can I blame it on the lack of sleep? At least Emma seems to enjoy one of mommy's favorite pastimes... day time napping :)

Daddy and His Little Love Bug

In the whirlwind that has been the last 11 days, it's been easy to get lost in the non-stop commotion as we adjust to being a family of three. But then a little something happens.... I turn around and get caught off guard by how much I love these two.
