Cocah Ciccarelli

For the second year in a row, Larry has been given the opportunity to be the assistant coach to the Shelton High School Mens Varsity Soccer Team. He has loved every second of it and I think it's safe to say that the boys love him too. Last year, we attended a dinner to celebrate the end of the season and I can't even count the number of mothers that came up to me to tell me how much their son's looked up to Larry and loved working with him and what a great guy he was. Cheers erupted as Larry stood up to give his speech. I know he truly loves coaching but it gives him a chance to play again but also because he's a great mentor and leader.

Here are some quick pics I've snapped while sitting on the very cold bleachers for some recent night games

Oh, hello Fall

It's official.... it's fall. It's true that we were away for a few days in the warm sun but I can't help but feel that Fall snuck up on us this year. I was driving to work the other day and noticed that that the trees were no longer green and that leaves were already on the ground. My suspicions were confirmed when that very day, mid-phone conversation Larry said to me "hey, did you happen to notice that it's fall?".

It is always hard to say goodbye to summer and flip flops but I have to admit, there are some things I love about fall. Putting the extra blanket on the bed... pulling out warm, cozy sweaters.... and of course apple picking!

Last month, we got an early start on fall and went apple picking with the Sforzas! Brooke and I co-erced Jeremy and Larry to come with the promise of bringing along some beer for the ride and ended up at Silverman's Farm in Norwalk for a great day of apple picking.

Perfect day for picking!

I can't lie, my favorite part may have been the post-picking apple cider and apple cider donut but was so happy to spend some time with our great friends.

Congratulations Jeff and Autumn!

Last week we traveled to Puerto Rico for a long weekend getaway to celebrate the wedding of our close friends Jeff and Autumn. For the last few years, our only vacations have been with them, so we felt right at home spending a few days in the sun with them... oh and 20 other Bentley friends. i must admit, this trip felt more like a spring break/bahamas senior trip dejavu than a wedding weekend getaway but it was a great weekend. we logged major hours at the pool (falling in love with frozen mojitos) during the day with friends, ate wonderful dinners, and then retreated to the casino at night for our chance to win big.

The wedding itself was absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony was held on the rooftop of the hotel at sunset with a gorgeous view of the beach below. The ceremony was officiated by the Herman family's friend Alan from St. Maarten which was so special and we were excited at the chance to catch up with Captain Alan again!

The reception moved down the party down poolside where there were mojitos aplenty and also a yummy taco bar and cupcake tower. Of course, the highlight had to be the group of people who decided to take a jump in the ocean. This was led by Coach, then the ASP boys, then by the bride and groom! I actually turned to Larry at one point and said "wow, this is really happening". But it was a great time, so what's a little salt water and seaweed among friends? Note, Larry and I were not in :)

Yup, that happened!

Well, that's because we were more excited to get to the CASINOOOOO. We had been flirting with the casino all weekend. I was up a couple hundred on slots and roulette (aka my new favorite game) and Larry was in a heated battle with the craps table. Somewhere around 2:30 (after watching the Yankees win!) I left Larry with my roulette winnings and went up to bed until I was woken up by him around 4 with him kneeling beside the bed, shoving hard plastic chips in my face. Turns out, he won big on the last roll of the night (aka closing of the casino) and won enough money to pay for our entire trip!

Here is Larry with his winnings

So all in all it was a great trip and a great way to bring an end to wedding season 2009. We already have 3 on the docket for 2010 and if they turn out to be anywhere as great as the 2009 parties, we're in for a treat!

It's that time again...

When Larry and I first starting living together, we started a tradition. All year long, we would collect change in a jar on his dresser and wouldn't touch it for any reason other than vacation. Each time we take a vacation (which has pretty much amounted to once a year), I dump out the contents and roll the change. We typically use this money for breakfast at the airport, cabs from the airport to the hotel and things like that. I look forward to this every year because not only is it found money but I secretly love rolling change. It's weird, I know... but I've always loved it ever since I was little. It's so therapeutic to me to dump out a huge pile of quarters and wrap into the tiny colored papers. I put on a movie or a tv show and can sit for hours doing it.

This year's grand total - $125. So you know what that means? We're leaving for Puerto Rico today to celebrate Jeff and Autumn's wedding!

With the momentous event of our first wedding anniversary, Larry and I ate our obligatory piece of cake from our wedding cake topper. Just a day after our wedding last year, I rushed out to Target and purchased a brand new large tupperware container to house this beauty for the year. Each time I opened the downstairs freezer I stopped to take a little peek, check in on it and dream of tasting it again. The result? Not bad. Larry proclaimed it to be the best piece of year old food that we will probably ever eat, and I have to agree. After we tried a little, I felt so bad throwing it out so it sat in the fridge for a few days before I could part with it (after maybe trying to taste a little bit again haha).

First Anniversary

Today, the husband and I celebrate one year of wedded bliss. It's hard to believe that just one year ago, we stood out on the shoreline (in gorgeous 75 degree October weather) and said our "I do-s". It has been a wonderful year and I can honestly say that I am more in love than with him than I was even 1 year ago.

Tonight we return to the scene of the crime and will be having dinner at Water's Edge. I hope to catch a glimpse of someone else's start of "perfectly ever after"... but I think Larry prefers we not start off our evening by stalking a stranger's wedding so we'll see how that works out!

I love you Lawrence Anthony Ciccarelli III. Thank you for a wonderful 1st year of marriage - can't wait to see what the next year holds for us.
