So It's Been Awhile...

It's been about 2 months since our last post and I'd figured I'd pick up some of the slack of blogging while Larry is having one of his busiest fall seasons ever. So what have we been up to? While let's start with the bad news and get that out of the way. We lost the house that Larry blogged about back in July. The sellers ended up being some not so nice people (I'm using my best internet friendly tone of voice) and decided not to sell. Yes, we were very disappointed but are firm believers that we'll end where we are meant to be. When we first moved from home from Boston in May of 2007 (I can hardly believe it's been that long!) thinking we'd only be squatting for a few months before purchasing a home but here we are 2 and half years later still squatting with family. If we hadn't moved that year, we might never have gotten engaged that spring and never married last year. There are many downsides to not having our own house (a main one being that we still have yet to use the majority of our wedding gifts - see picture example of the current basement situation - yes that is all of our stuff!) but the biggest upside of all is that we've been able to pay for our entire wedding by ourselves (insert pat on back here), pay off credit card debt (insert scolding look and then subsequent pat on back here) and continue to pad our savings account (insert big smile here) so I think we're OK to stay here for awhile. We're now hoping to ride out the fall and winter at my father-in-law's house and be in a home in the spring. Of course this could all change in an instant when we fall in love with another property (and we're always looking) so never say never :)

OK so the good news! We spent a large part of our summer attending weddings. I remember being fresh out of college and being so jealous that all of my co-workers at my first job went to weddings every Saturday night in the summer. Drinks, dancing, love in the air.... what could be better than that? I said this outloud once and distinctly remember getting a nasty look and being told "just wait - you'll hit the point in a few years when your spring/summer/fall will be ruled by wedding because everyone you know will ultimately decided to get married in the same 2-3 year span and you'll hate your life because every weekend will be decided for you. I laughed at it then, but I think it's safe to say that we're hitting our wedding stride. After only attending 1 wedding in 2007 and only ours in 2008, we have already attended 4 this year and it's not over yet. Throw some engagement parties in there as well, bridal showers, bachelorette/bachelor parties and there goes the weekend! So far for 2010, we've got 3 weddings on the calendar so hopefully that will be it! All kidding aside, we're always excited at the chance for a road trip to a wedding especially if it means getting to see old friends and partaking in open bar (ok just kidding about the last part, but not really).

I think that's it for now, I'll try to post more often to keep you updated about the exciting fall season ahead of us. I'll give you a hint - it involves bleachers, beaches and butt-kicking(?!?!).
